Summer 2009 Players Academy
Program
The 2009 Players Academy Program will be held from June 29 - July 24, 2009 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday-Friday at Bishop McNarmara High School 6800 Marlboro Pike Forestville, MD 20747-3270. This summer's musical theater production introduces students to the Harlem Renaissance and the significance this era has had on the Hip Hop movement. The students will rotate classes each day. Every Friday there will be a guest lecturer to talk about the importance of education while pursuing the arts. The culminating performance is titled, From Harlem To Hip Hop.

Hoofing (Tap)
The cost of the four-week program is $300 with a limited number
of scholarships available. In addition,
all prospective Academy Players must audition.
Those selected must pay for the program no later than June 22, 2009.
During the course of the program, students will learn acting improvisation,
“cold reading,” stage
presentation, theatrical production, 20's style dancing and vocal techniques. In addition
to the practicum experience, students are required to participate in
daily lectures on topics including networking strategies, theater
and film history and etiquette.
The Players Academy will culminate with an original theatrical production
written exclusively for TAROTÉ Players Academy members titled, "From Harlem to Hip Hop".
